Requirements
Education (Essential)
First-level university degree in Law.
Education (Desirable)
Advanced university degree in Public International Law or Intellectual Property Law.
Experience (Essential)
At least six years of relevant professional experience in the area of law, of which at least four years of experience has been gained in a legal department of an intergovernmental organization on matters related to the legal and constitutional aspects of that organization.
Experience (Desirable)
Experience advising in the area of public international law, treaty affairs and/or the law of international organizations.
Language (Essential)
Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken), including ability to draft legal texts.
Language (Desirable)
Knowledge of other UN languages.
Job Related Competencies (Essential)
In-depth knowledge of the legal issues related to the governance and constitutional/treaty basis of international organizations.
Good knowledge of IP law and WIPO-administered treaties.
Excellent analytical and legal drafting skills.
Ability to formulate legal opinions on complex questions and draft complex legal documents on constitutional and other legal matters.
Organizational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and to respect deadlines.
Discretion and good diplomatic skills.
Sound political judgement.
Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the internet.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Annual salary:
Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the September 2022 rate of 76.9%
